CMA Fest
We had been hearing rumors about Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband for
several months now, but these guys are based out of Salt Lake City Utah
and our first chance to see them in action at a live performance was
during this year's CMAfest. We caught one of their performances at the
Chevy "All Access Music Tour" Stage located in the Sports Zone and were
immediately impressed with them.
The look, feel, and sound of Ryan and the Rubberband is different than
your normal everyday country music band, the best way to describe them
is that they are kind-of-like the Foggy Mountain Boys after a collision
with R.E.M .
Their Set list included:
Simplify
Will you Love Me
Superman
Dream Big
Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband have been tearing up the Utah Hills for
nearly a decade and they already have four independent Cd's under their
belt: If I Were A Bird, Simplified, The Gift (Christmas music), and a
Live CD.
They've just signed a record deal with Capitol Records and will have
another CD out later this year so be on the lookout for it and you can
catch their "Dream Big" video on CMT.
This band writes and plays all of their own stuff even on their albums,
you won't find any session players here, no sir. You also won't find
any fluff or filler music; these guys need only to bring themselves and
their incredible talent with them. This multi-talented band consists of-
Ryan Shupe- fiddle, guitar and mandolin
Craig Miner- guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo and ukulele
Roger Archibald- guitar
Colin Botts- bass
Bart Olson- drummer, fiddle
The word "Band" is the key word for these guys, they all show off their
multi-talented artistry and vocals on the stage and blend together just
like a cup of Maxwell House Coffee in the morning-"Good to the last
drop" or in this case "Good till the Last Note".
Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband have bounced into the Nashville scene and we expect them to be here for a while.
